What you should know about Fixodent
Approximately 35 million Americans wear dentures and use denture cream. Most are unaware of the potential health hazards posed by the zinc ingredient in these products. Research indicates that several types of denture adhesive products containing the mineral zinc, including POLIGRIP and FIXODENT, may pose a hazard to you. Denture cream zinc may adversely impact your health and create a copper deficiency in your body.

Denture cream manufacturers failed to warn consumers that their products are potentially toxic and can cause serious neurological problems, including neuropathy. Because of this failure to warn, companies like Poligrip and Fixodent should be held accountable for the damages and suffering experienced by those who are injured by their products.

Fixodent side effects:
Denture creams such as Fixodent have been linked to serious side effects, including:

• Zinc poisoning
• Neuropathy
• Copper deficiency
• Other neurological side effects

If you are suffering from unexplained weakness, numbness, loss of sensation or other nerve symptoms, or have been diagnosed with a condition called neuropathy, denture cream zinc may be the cause of your symptoms. Tests for zinc levels in your blood can determine quickly whether you have a zinc overdose in your body.

Severe Zinc poisoning can lead to neuropathy, a condition that affects the nerves. Symptoms of neuropathy vary, but may include numbness or tingling in the feet, legs, hands, and/or arms; a reduction in strength or ability to move legs or feet, or arms and hands; a tendency to stumble or fall down; instability and lack of balance; or a change or decrease in walking stride.

Symptoms of Zinc poisoning:
Zinc poisoning symptoms may be signs of serious neurological problems and neuropathy, caused by the zinc in denture creams, such as Poligrip and Fixodent.

Zinc poisoning warning signs include:
• Unexplained weakness
• Numbness
• Tingling in hands and feet
• Poor balance
• Lack of coordination
• Unexplained pain
• Weakness in the hands, arms or legs
• Burning sensation
• Feeling of wearing gloves or socks when
   the skin is bare
